Donna Engelson is a strategic business partner with Profiles International and president of The Leadership Edge, specializing in leadership development and employee assessment. She left a teaching career in 1984 to start The Leadership Edge with her husband, Bill. Her areas of expertise include team building/management, facilitation, and the use of assessments to achieve strategic objectives.
As an active member of the business community, Donna served in leadership positions in a number of business and not-for-profit organizations, including the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board, the Northern Virginia Community College Education Foundation, Bailey’s Crossroads Rotary, the Northern Virginia Community Foundation, and others. She is an honorary member of Leadership Fairfax, having worked with the program for twenty years.
Donna is certified as an instructor for the ProfileXT, the Profiles Sales Assessment and the Checkpoint 360°™ System.
Donna is a graduate of Connecticut College. She and her husband have four grown children and twelve grandchildren. Since 2005, the Engelsons have lived in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
William L. Engelson is the Chairman and CEO of The Leadership Edge, Inc. in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The Leadership Edge was co-founded in 1984 by Mr. Engelson and his wife, Donna, and was located in the Northern Virginia area until 2005.
Over the past 25+ years Mr. Engelson has provided strategic and leadership consulting services to CEOs and senior executives of dozens of firms ranging in size from $2M in sales up to well beyond $750M as well as many organizations in the public sector. His areas of expertise include strategy formulation, implementation and execution; executive/management team building; executive/management leadership development; and individual/corporate performance measurement and improvement.
From 1982 to 1984 Mr. Engelson was President and CEO of Sextant Yachts, Ltd. In this capacity he was responsible for strategic direction and business management decisions affecting the firm, as well as leading the sales effort.
Prior to 1982 Mr. Engelson was a career U. S. Coast Guard officer and served in a variety of operational and staff positions, including three afloat assignments, an OCS instructor and senior management analyst/advisor for the Chief of Staff at CG Headquarters.
Mr. Engelson received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D. C.
He and his wife have four children and twelve grandchildren, which he counts as his true wealth.
